Nuggets Of Gold From Dad

Happy father's day to all our dear dads, mentors and even some mums who stood as dads when for some reason dad was not there. God bless them all.
So what did you get your dad? Nothing? Really? Lets not argue. He will accept a belated gift so please get him something tomorrow.
Remember father figures are included!
I was discussing with my father yesterday and he said to me “In God’s database, your address is Isu Umu-Ezedim”.  You see Isu Umu- Ezedim is my village. It is a village in Oba, Anambra State, Nigeria. Dad was trying to tell me how important it is to stay in touch with my roots. My dad says stuff like this all the time. He encourages me and always lends a listening ear. Now more than ever I want to listen to his wise counsel and I treasure every word he says.
In view of this and to honour our dads, I reached out to a few friends. What has your dad said to you that stuck like glue? What did he say to make you the man or woman you are today? What is his mantra which you still live by? Read and enjoy but most of all, learn and let something a dad said affect you positively today!
“you are not a woman, you are a human being”- Aisha’s Dad

“if you want something done, do it yourself” – Engr Peter Uzokwe

"Onye gusia akwukwo onata bia guo uche" (Loosely translated: after a formal education, one must also study common sense)
"Do not ever be scared of anyone except God and remember to speak the truth always"- Chief Dr Ifeanyi Enechukwu

"my daughter, you are the greatest!”- Mr Cornelius Enwenwen

In my SS I was forced to contest for Miss Enene House in FGGC Calabar and I panicked! I sent a message to my dad just in case he heard and waited at home with a cane. I chickened out of the contest and went home feeling squeaky clean, pure, without guilt and with a good girl image. Surprisingly my dad thought otherwise and said "taking part in a beauty pageant will not make a good girl become bad"
(I was very naughty back then and sometimes dad would be very stern)"If you were not so intelligent i would have disowned you" -Late Hon. (Justice) E. E. E Effanga

  4. I love the quote by Mr Enwenwen. Fathers should praise their daughters all the time. It will give the girl so much confidence and determination to please her dad at all times.

  7. The posts brought tears to my eyes. Wish my dad was still here to carry me on his laps and lavish me with so much love ( even tho I was always so embarrassed then esp if my friends are around when he did that. lol)
